Top tips to save gas that you can start using today!

How sick and tired are you of increasing gas prices?  Every week there seems to be a new crisis and “reasons” for why prices continue to spiral out of control and there doesn’t seem to be any chance of things letting up.

Some simple tips on saving gas can help to ease the burden of this excessive cost.

Gas Saving tip # 1: Shop around for the best deals:

Become a savvy shopper, spend a few minutes searching on the net for the best prices in your area.  Good resources for finding the best gas prices in your area are:

Taking a few minutes to find the cheapest gas stations in your area will save you time and money and avoid you driving around hoping to find cheaper fuel but wasting gas in the process.  This is the most immediate benefit you will notice on your wallet.

Gas Saving tip # 2: You get more gas for your buck when its colder:

Since gas is actually denser at lower temperatures, purchase your gas in the early morning or late evening and you will get more gas delivered at the pump at these times.  You’ll be able to avoid the crowds this way too, an added bonus.

Gas Saving tip # 3: Drive economically:

By adjusting slightly the way you drive your car and following some easy steps you can get a better fuel efficiency out of your car.

Don’t start and stop your engine frequently.  If you can avoid it don’t keep turning your engine off and restarting it, this will use more fuel than letting it idle.
Don’t over accelerate. Driving fast in low gears burns much more fuel than a steady increase in speed.  If you have a stick shift then get into the next gear as soon as possible.
Close windows when driving at higher speeds.  You can save as much as 10% by this alone.
Dump any extra weight.  Having the trunk full if you don’t need what you keep in there just wastes extra fuel.  Anything that weighs the car down will use a lot more gas than normal.

Gas saving tip # 4: Run your car on water.

Consider converting your car to run on a combination of gas and water.  A number of very good kits are available and are simple to fit.  You can as much as double your fuel economy which more than covers the cost of the kit and can literally save you thousands every year.
